Alicia Appel, English Teacher
Southern High School, Anne Arundel County

Currently teaching English 9, AVID, and Creative Writing, Alicia has taught grades 1 and 5-12. Nationally Board Certified, Alicia's accolades include leadership awards for the Faith Community Coalition, theater direction, and a fellowship to the National Writing Project. She revived Southern High School's Literary Magazine and provided staff development countywide for AVID, a class coupling rigor with support for students determined to attend college. A military spouse, Alicia climbed Mount Fuji and traversed zip-lines through rainforests in Central America. She uses here adventures as inspiring, memorable lessons. Alicia has been heard saying, "I would pay to do this job!"
