  • Education Specialist for Teacher Principal Evaluation (TPE) at MSDE since 2012
  • 17 years with the Montgomery County Public Schools as high school principal, community superintendent, and chief school performance officer
  • 23 years with the Prince George’s County Public Schools as an elementary and secondary special education teacher specializing in working with students diagnosed with learning and serious emotional disabilities, as a high school assistant principal, and principal of two schools, one a center for seriously emotionally disabled adolescents and the other a traditional high school.

My primary role at MSDE has been, as a member of our TPE team, to provide professional development regarding components and processes of teacher and principal evaluation including Student Learning Objectives (SLOs). Additionally, our team has provided technical assistance to school districts and their executive officers (those who supervise and evaluate principals) to assist them in developing their evaluation models. Working with school system leaders, I have had the opportunity to share processes, tools and templates I utilized as an executive officer. The growth of school leaders is a particular passion of mine as I strongly believe that strong school and classroom leadership is the key to student success. Having led the selection of over 100 principals and 200 plus assistant principals, I am very excited to be a part of this academy helping to develop future school leaders in Maryland.

On a personal level, I am married to an elementary special education teacher. We are cat lovers and have five felines, three of whom are former ferals (a mother and her two off-spring). I enjoy listening to music, going to concerts, and have been a life-time baseball fan (the Red Sox is my team) and am, also, still playing competitive baseball as a pitcher and infielder.
