Tom Evans

  • 35 years experience as a secondary principal and central office administrator, including 12 years as principal at the high school level

  • Served most recently as the Principal of Eastern Technical High School in the Baltimore County Public Schools

  • Named the High School Principal of the Year in 2008 and received the Terrel Bell Leadership Award (USDE) in 2010

Thomas G. ("Tom") Evans has enjoyed a 46 year career in public education with 35 years experience as a secondary principal and central office administrator in three school districts - Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and the Kansas City Missouri School District. He has served most recently as the Principal of Eastern Technical High School in the Baltimore County Public Schools. His principal experience includes 12 years at the high school level - Eastern Tech and Randallstown High School. He has also served as the principal of Catonsville Middle and Perry Hall Middle School (BCPS), Chesapeake Bay Middle and Bayview Middle School (AACPS), and as the Director of Middle Schools in the KCMSD). Mr. Evans has extensive experience working with aspiring leaders through his work with the National and Maryland Associations of Secondary School Principals. He served as the Director of the Anne Arundel County Administrative Assessment Center and as an Assessment Center and Breaking Ranks trainer for NASSP. He has also served as the President of various professional organizations, e.g. the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals, the Secondary School Administrators Association of Baltimore County, and the Administrators Association of AAC. Mr. Evans was named the High School Principal of the Year in 2008 and received the Terrel Bell Leadership Award (USDE) in 2010. Mr. Evans has worked with the development of the new Teacher and Principal Evaluation systems and PAR (Peer Assistance and Review) programs in Baltimore County and has served as a member of both of the ESEA Flexibility Waiver Committees at MSDE. He looks forward to continuing his work with aspiring principals in the MSDE Principal Pipeline.
