Allegany County - Allegany High School

In 1993, Alan began the environmental science program at Allegany High School. He created a variety of unique learning experiences for his students, formed partnerships with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Chesapeake Bay Trust. In 1999, Allegany High School was named one of the first Green Schools in Maryland. In 2005, Alan was named Chesapeake Bay Trust Teacher of the Year and also received the Richard Johnson Environmental Education Award through the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Studies Appalachian Laboratory.
