The Sherry Unger Award
 Sherry Unger 1949-2002 Every other month, we will feature a different noteworthy service-learning project on our homepage. The featured project winner will receive a library of service-learning materials and will be listed in our project idea archive for others to emulate! As of July 2002, this award was renamed in honor of Sherry Unger. For a list of past winners, click here.
Eligible projects must be Maryland K-12 public school curricular connected classroom projects, independent projects by a student or group of students, projects carried out by a club or organization, or projects submitted by a community based organization (CBO) that was carried out by youth.
To apply for this award, fill out an application form, which includes a publicity release form. For more information and a copy of this year's application, please email Michele Milligan (mmilligan@msde.state.md.us) or call (410) 767-0358.
There is one submission deadline annually: June 1.
Sherry Unger, a long-time service-learning Fellow and friend of service-learning, passed away on June 22, 2002. As of July 2002, our monthly featured projects award was renamed the "The Sherry Unger Award" to honor Sherry, and to reward service-learning projects which reflect her excellence and commitment to serving humanity. | |
