Educators from Maryland's Local Systems to Meet with Senators and Delegates

Maryland’s 24 local Teachers of the Year will converge on Annapolis on January 22 for the annual “Teachers of the Year Day.”  The honored educators will visit the floors of both the Senate and the House for special tributes, and will take part in an education briefing with State Superintendent of Schools Lillian M. Lowery.

The 2015 Teachers of the Year were selected by local systems last year.  Howard County’s Jody Zepp was named the Maryland Teacher of the Year last fall.

9 a.m. - Teachers gather in the Main Ballroom of the Maryland Inn, 16 Church Circle, Annapolis

10 a.m. - Teachers honored on the floor of the House, State House, Annapolis

10:25 a.m. - Teachers honored on the floor of the Senate, State House, Annapolis

11:30 a.m. - Briefing from State Superintendent Lowery, Maryland Inn

1 p.m. - Individual legislator meetings set for each local Teacher of the Year.
