Media Alert: Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, July 22

Baltimore, MD (July 18, 2014)

The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 22, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore.  The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the State Board room, and is scheduled to run for a half day.  Items on this month’s agenda include the following: 

9:10 a.m.         Code of Discipline
Representatives of the Code of Discipline Work Group will present to the State Board recommended revisions to the Maryland Guidelines for a State Code of Discipline.   The proposed guideline revisions are designed to help put new State discipline regulations into context for local systems. 

9:55 a.m.         State Assessments
The State Board will hear a report on the final administration of the Maryland School Assessment, as well as a look ahead at the upcoming PARCC assessments which will be aligned to Maryland’s College and Career Ready Standards.

10:50 a.m.       Digital Learning
The State Board will hear a report on expanding access to digital learning and computing in Maryland public schools.

2:35 p.m.         Election of Officers
The State Board will elect a President and Vice President for the 2014-15 term.
